The job losses continue to be widespread in this recession. If you still have your job, you should look for extraordinary ways to save additional funds for your emergency savings fund (see our recommendations at http://www.stickyasset.com/blog). However, if you have lost your job, you should now have different priorities.
Begin to investigate what is available to you for retraining and education. Look at the action taking place on government help (stimulus). Why shouldn’t you get your unfair share? If you don’t have a computer at home, go to the public library. Do your research. See if you can retool. Look at the growing or hiring job profiles in healthcare, education and government.
Begin an outreach program to find a new job. This means the traditional ways to find a job along with the new social network platforms:
Facebook – it’s free – sign up and use it.
Twitter – sign up and use it.
Your goal is to fan out and make sure people know you are looking for a job. Let people know what you are looking for and why you are the right fit for that position.
Developing your on wide-reaching action plan is the best medicine in this economic environment to get ahead. You can do it!
